Who are we?
The Blackwater Wildfowlers Association was formed in 1960 to maintain shooting opportunities and conserve the coastal habitat of the Blackwater Estuary. New members are introduced to the club’s marshes by experienced wildfowlers and are only accepted as full members after passing tests on quarry recognition and marsh safety.
The club actively supports the education and encouragement of young wildfowlers through the annual Essex Joint Council of Wildfowling Clubs’ Bill Bailey Memorial Wildfowling Course and offers concessionary Junior membership to those under 18 or in full-time education.

The BWA also supports local wildfowling traditions such as the use of large bore fowling guns. Several club members are active punt gunners.
The BWA is affiliated to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, the Countryside Alliance and the Essex Joint Council of Wildfowling Clubs.
In the summer the BWA organises regular clay shoots as well as working parties to maintain club marshes and remove rubbish from the foreshore.
